“The drought in Jaindo Dars in Tharparkar hit us hard, drying up our lands and our livelihood. Despite the circumstances, my 7 children were in school. One of them is also differently abled like myself, and with little hope of income, the future seemed bleak for us. When Thar Foundation awarded me a grant through its SME grants program, I opened a tuck shop for the locals. Today, thanks to their support I earn Rs. 36,000 per month (~USD 280) and am able to provide for my family.”
Thar Foundation has taken a step to end discrimination and provide relief to ‘People with Disabilities’ in Tharparkar under the framework of UN Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
- As an agent of change, Thar Foundation continues to take affirmative action through this program to provide SME grants and financial assistance to differently-able individuals and also imparting them various life-skills so that they can achieve financial security for themselves and their families. Through this program, Thar Foundation aims to be a proud ambassadors for equality.
